I was honored to moderate the first screening of @phillipmyoumans’ breathtaking film #BurningCane at @arraynow and @ava’s @amandatheater! We had an awesome conversation about faith, the church, toxicity, courage and love. I couldve stayed all night! I loved talking about and thinking about this movie. It is brilliant! To top it off, Phillip was only 17 when he wrote and directed it and is only 19 now. To wrestle with such complex issues so eloquently, with care and compassion, is the hallmark of an excellent filmmaker with nothing but sky above him. Be inspired, y’all! That thing you’ve been wanting to get done? Go do it! Have you seen @burningcanefilm on @netflix yet? What did you think? I need to talk about this movie some more!
