\"\"<\/a>So I hate everything today.<\/p>\n

Though I woke up on the same side of the bed that I wake up every morning on, somehow, my day just started off badly.\u00a0 I awoke to discover my people aren’t all back from the war like I thought<\/a>, my toe that I split open on Southwest’s raggedy sidewalks yesterday was still throbbing and possibly infected, and I was running late to work.<\/p>\n

When I got to work — late — I stopped off in the bathroom just in time for the zipper on my dress to break. Beyond repair. Did I mention the zipper was on the side and went from above my chest to below my butt? I high-tailed it out of the office, helplessly shielding my dignity with a half-sweater and a giant purse.<\/p>\n

On my way to the metro, I saw the same homeless 20-somethings that I see everyday, sleeping in the park next to my office.\u00a0 When I finally made it back to my office — an hour and a half later — they were still there, sleeping.\u00a0 In the past, I would pray for them when I walked past, but during my bad day when I hate everything, they infuriated me.\u00a0 I wanted\u00a0 to go over to them and yell “Waaaaaake UP!” like they do in a Spike Lee Joint<\/em>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Here they were, these young people, and so soon in life they had no hope? There they laid, just sleeping their whole lives away, as if to slap God’s face. How dare they<\/em>.<\/p>\n

And then I remembered that I’ve been walking around the District on this beautiful sunny morning hating everything<\/em>.\u00a0 And my people are still fighting in Afghanistan.\u00a0 And there are people my age that are sleeping in the park because they have no more hope at my age<\/em>.And I thought, how dare I<\/em>?<\/p>\n

I’ve been sleeping on God and His goodness all.morning.long.\u00a0 So many people did not get up this morning.\u00a0 So many people do not have the privilege of going to work at their ideal organization every single day.\u00a0 So many don’t have the privilege of a job at all<\/em>.<\/p>\n

I am living a dream and pursuing it with my whole heart ONLY because I was blessed enough to grow up with two parents who told me — and showed me — that with Jesus all things are possible.\u00a0 I should be SCREAMING this!<\/p>\n

How many other people are walking around angry and hopeless today? How many others can’t see the sunshine for the rain?<\/p>\n

WAKE! UP!<\/p>\n

Life is too blessed and God is too good to be slept on.<\/p>\n

Pass some love and hope along today. The world needs it. Wake somebody up today.\u00a0 Wake yourself up.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
