{"id":589,"date":"2010-05-31T09:00:51","date_gmt":"2010-05-31T14:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dcdistrictdiva.com\/?p=589"},"modified":"2010-05-31T09:00:51","modified_gmt":"2010-05-31T14:00:51","slug":"a-moment-of-silence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.brookeobie.com\/districtdiva\/a-moment-of-silence\/","title":{"rendered":"A Moment of Silence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dcdistrictdiva.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/texas-soldiers.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dcdistrictdiva.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/FallenSoldiers.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-592\" title=\"FallenSoldiers\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dcdistrictdiva.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/FallenSoldiers-300x228.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"228\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Having four people I love in Iraq and Afghanistan at the same time was difficult, to say the least.\u00a0 In the beginning of their deployment, I would torture myself by obsessively checking the military casualties website just praying not to see anyone&#8217;s name that I knew.\u00a0 There was always a kind of sick relief I felt afterward:\u00a0 joy to not see my people&#8217;s names, followed by despair at seeing the countless men and women &#8212; the same age, the same rank as my people, deployed in the same place &#8212; who have died.\u00a0 Christ spared all four of my people, brought them back home safely, and saw fit for those others&#8217; lives to be completed.<\/p>\n<p>God&#8217;s will be done in all things. He is always good.<\/p>\n<p>I am cooking-out with my family today.\u00a0 So many of our brave men and women in uniform will never get to be with their families again.\u00a0\u00a0 I pray that God will comfort the families of our lost soldiers today and everyday, and that we will all take a moment to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
